In-home & online training
Dog trainer in Lisbon

Looking for a dog trainer in Lisbon who fixes the problem instead of working around it? I'm André Alves, a certified dog trainer (PSP, DGAV, NePoPo® Gold Graduate) specialising in canine behavioural rehabilitation. I work in-home across Greater Lisbon, at the owner's house and in the places where the difficulties actually happen, and online worldwide.
One principle drives everything I do: preventing behaviour problems matters as much as solving them. And training always involves the owner. I don't train the dog for you, I teach you to train your dog, so the result lasts after the session ends.
Over 100 five-star reviews from owners across Greater Lisbon and in online follow-up.
When you need a dog trainer in Lisbon
Most owners who contact me don't have "a difficult dog", they have a dog nobody taught to live with them. These are the cases I see most:
- Reactive dog: overreacts to other dogs, people, cars or noises.
- Aggression: towards other dogs, towards people, or resource guarding.
- Separation anxiety: barks, cries or destroys when left alone.
- Fears and phobias: of the street, of people, of fireworks and thunder.
- Pulling on the leash: walks that have become impossible.
- Toileting indoors: including in adult dogs with the habit established.
- Puppies: the right foundations so none of the above ever develops.
How the process works
- 360º Assessment: analysis of environment, routine and behaviour; identifying the causes, triggers and patterns that maintain the problem.
- Transformation Programme: strategy tailored to each dog, close follow-up throughout, and access to exclusive support materials.
- Maintenance Programmes: progressive adjustments to consolidate learning and build independence from the trainer.

Outside this area? Online follow-up is fully personalised and gets the same results.
Why certification matters
Dog training isn't a regulated profession in Portugal, anyone can claim to be a trainer. My credentials are verifiable: PSP (police dog work), DGAV (national veterinary authority) and NePoPo® Gold Graduate (international, behaviour-science based methodology). Frequently asked questions
Which areas of Lisbon do you cover?
In-home training in Lisbon city, Loures, Odivelas, Oeiras, Amadora, Cascais, Sintra and Mafra. Outside this area, I work online, with the same results, as owners in Portugal and abroad can attest.
Do you work with dogs of any age?
Yes. Breed and age don't matter: if the dog needs help, we assess the case and recommend the best option. You can start from 2 months old.
Does the owner take part in the sessions?
Yes, and it's decisive. I don't train the dog for the owner, I teach the owner to train the dog, so the result lasts after the session ends.
How many sessions are needed?
The number of sessions and type of follow-up are defined in the 360º Assessment, tailored to each case.
How does the first session work?
The 360º Assessment looks at the whole picture: environment, routine and the dog's behaviour. The plan follows from that diagnosis. It splits into assessment, planning and initial direction, it doesn't solve the problem, but it starts the process the right way.
