Aggressive dog rehabilitation in Lisbon
If your dog has already growled, lunged at or bitten someone, you are probably living in fear inside your own home. I'm André Alves, a certified dog trainer (PSP, DGAV, NePoPo® Gold Graduate), and rehabilitating aggressive dogs is the most demanding area of my work, and the one where people are most often told that "nothing can be done".
“Trainer André Alves saved my Shark, a rescued Bull terrier, from a tragic end.”

Types of aggression
- Towards other dogs: in the street, on the leash, or at home between dogs of the same family.
- Towards people: strangers, visitors, or members of the family itself.
- Resource guarding: food, toys, beds, spaces.
- Out of fear: the most common, and the most misread.
- Redirected: the dog can't reach the trigger and bites whatever is nearby.
Risk management first
In cases with a bite history, the first session doesn't start with training: it starts by establishing safety, routines, barriers, equipment and protocols for the family. Only then is the rehabilitation built.
Frequently asked questions
My dog has already bitten someone. Is there a solution?
Cases with a bite history require an in-person assessment and risk management from day one. Many do rehabilitate, but I never promise a result without seeing the dog. In the 360º Assessment I tell you honestly what is possible.
Is it safe to have the trainer at home with an aggressive dog?
Yes. The 360º Assessment begins precisely by establishing safe conditions for the dog, for the family and for me.
Is there a cure for aggression?
Aggression isn't an illness with a cure, it's a behaviour that is managed and modified. The goal is a dog that lives safely and with quality of life, and a family that knows what to do.
