Puppy training in Lisbon
Puppy training in Lisbon is the highest-return intervention there is. I'm André Alves, a certified dog trainer (PSP, DGAV, NePoPo® Gold Graduate), and most of the serious cases I rehabilitate, reactivity, aggression, separation anxiety, could have been avoided with the right foundations in the first months of life.
Preventing behaviour problems matters just as much as solving them.
What we work on at this stage
- Proper socialisation: it isn't "getting along with everyone", it's learning to stay calm around stimuli.
- Toileting in the right place: before the mistake sets in and becomes a habit of years.
- Being left alone: progressive habituation that prevents separation anxiety.
- Leash walking: before the puppy is strong enough to pull.
- Boundaries and self-control: the foundation that prevents reactivity in adulthood.
- Handling: vet, bath and nail trimming without drama.
How it works
It starts with the 360º Assessment: analysis of the puppy's environment, routine and behaviour. From there we define the right Transformation Programme, with close follow-up during and between classes. The work is done with you present, I teach you to train your puppy, so the result lasts.
Getting a dog and it hasn't arrived yet?
There are two consultations designed for exactly that moment: the ideal dog choice consultation, which looks at your environment and routine to work out what kind of dog fits your lifestyle; and the "I'm getting a dog, now what?" consultation, covering the arrival, preparing the environment and feeding. The first days are decisive.
Frequently asked questions
At what age can I start training my puppy?
From 2 months old. The earlier you start, the less you will have to correct later, and this is precisely the stage where you prevent what later takes months to rehabilitate.
Is puppy training done at home?
Yes. Classes take place at the owner's home and in the places where the puppy will live day to day, across Greater Lisbon. Outside that area, follow-up is online.
What does the puppy learn?
More important than tricks: proper socialisation, toileting in the right place, being left alone without anxiety, walking well on the leash, and the boundaries that prevent reactivity and aggression in adulthood.
